About Us

Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Jen Durward was born and raised in Havre on the Montana Hi-Line. Giving back to this community that she still calls home is deeply personal for Jen. Growing up, she saw a need for quality psychiatric-mental health care. Her older sister, nicknamed Hope by her grandmother, was born with neurological and physical challenges.

Her beloved red-headed sister continues to prove every day that she is a survivor who won’t let her challenges hold her back. Jen is inspired by her sister every day, who helps her realize that she, too, can provide hope to those who need it most.

Jen earned her undergraduate degrees in nursing from Montana State University-Northern in Havre. As a full-time Registered Nurse, she worked in the Behavior Health Unit at Northern Montana Hospital, where she earned her Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing Certification (RN-BC). Jen’s work in behavioral health provided valuable experience in dealing with complex patients.

Jen then became Clinical Coordinator at Bullhook Clinic, a Federally Qualified Community Center (FQHC) that offers medical and care management services on a sliding fee scale. This allowed Jen to work with the most vulnerable populations in the community, while providing experience in case management, chronic disease management, and optimizing patient care.

In 2011, Jen earned her master’s degree at the University of North Dakota-Grand Forks with her Master of Science with a specification in Adult Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She received board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) through the American Nurses Credentialing Center-ANCC in July of 2011.

Jen began her nurse practitioner career at Northern Montana Medical Group – Specialty Center, where she provided comprehensive psychiatric care and management both in-person and via telehealth visits. Her practice covered over 300 miles, serving patients in Havre and the surrounding rural areas. Since COVID-19, the use of telemedicine became a crucial part of meeting her patients’ needs.

By opening her own office, Jen has the opportunity to choose the quality, quantity, and purpose of her work. Private practice allows Jen to collaborate with her patients’ primary care providers in the most effective, kind, and affordable way possible, while maintaining a flexible schedule for her patients as well as her own family.

Jen is also please to be a preceptor for psychiatric mental health graduate nurse practitioner students since 2018. Working closely with students from many universities across the United States through indoctrinating and generating highly skilled psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners to improve access to mental health care.  She has trained extensively in psychopharmacology through the works of Stephen Stahl, MD and his team at Neuroeducation Institute. She is a fellow of ANCC, AANP, APNA, and NEI (Neuroeducation Institute – NEIglobal). Jen frequently provides consultation to other providers around the state on treating complex mental health patients.

Guiding Principals
At Laverdure Psychiatric PLLC, our work is guided by principles that place the individual at the center of care.

We believe mental health treatment should honor the dignity and humanity of every person, recognizing that individuals are far more than a diagnosis. Care should be personalized, thoughtful, and comprehensive, addressing biological, psychological, and social aspects of health.

We strive to practice psychiatry that is both scientifically grounded and holistically informed, integrating evidence-based treatment with approaches that support overall wellness. Collaboration with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals is essential to meaningful recovery.

Above all, we are committed to fostering hope, reducing stigma, and creating a therapeutic environment where individuals feel respected, supported, and empowered in their journey toward mental wellness.

Laverdure Psychiatry is a psychiatric private practice that treats complex patients with mild to severe mental illnesses along with possible comorbid medical issues. This practice was developed with the intent to treating a person as an individual but not a disease focus.
Mission Statement
Laverdure Psychiatric PLLC is dedicated to providing advanced, compassionate mental health care to individuals experiencing mild to severe mental illness. Our mission is to deliver individualized, comprehensive treatment that recognizes the unique experiences, strengths, and needs of every person we serve. Through the integration of evidence-based psychiatric care and holistic practices, we strive to treat the whole person—mind, body, and life circumstances—rather than defining individuals by their diagnosis. Our commitment is to foster dignity, hope, and lasting wellness by partnering with patients in a thoughtful, respectful, and person-centered approach to mental health care.
Vision Statement
To redefine mental wellness in rural Montana by bringing cutting-edge, evidence-based interventional psychiatry and compassionate counseling to the heart of local communities, ensuring no distance is a barrier to a transformed life.
Core Values
1. Compassionate Care
We approach every patient with empathy, respect, and understanding. Mental health care begins with listening and recognizing the lived experiences of each individual we serve.
2. Individualized Treatment
We believe that no two people experience mental illness in the same way. Our care plans are thoughtfully tailored to the unique biological, psychological, social, and cultural needs of each patient.
3. Whole-Person Approach
We prioritize holistic psychiatric care that considers the full context of a person’s life—mind, body, environment, and relationships—rather than focusing solely on symptoms or diagnoses.
4. Clinical Excellence
We are committed to delivering advanced, evidence-based psychiatric treatment while remaining current with evolving research, therapeutic approaches, and best practices in mental health care.
5. Dignity and Respect
Every individual deserves to be treated with dignity and without stigma. We strive to create a safe, welcoming environment where patients feel valued and supported.
6. Collaboration and Partnership
Healing is most effective when patients and providers work together. We partner with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals to support meaningful and sustainable recovery.
7. Hope and Empowerment
We believe recovery and improvement are possible at every stage of mental illness. Our role is to support patients in building resilience, autonomy, and a renewed sense of hope.
